Proton beam imaging by the scintillator – CCD camera system

Lead time: September 2011 - September 2015

Research conducted as part of the Ph.D. dissertation of Ms Marzena Boberek, M.Sc., Eng.

The CCB IFJ PAN Proton Radiotherapy Group started working at constructing a high-resolution system for imaging proton beam spatial distributions in the radiotherapy facility.

The aim of these works is to implement a method which will allow shortening of a proton beam diagnostics time while preparing the facility for patients' irradiation.

It was suggested to make a device equipped with a scintillation screen and CCD camera. The device will also be used for proton beam diagnostics in the radiotherapy facilities at Proteus C-235 cyclotron. Various types of scintillators will be tested for the application of the divice in a proton beam dosimetry.
